The TMD conducted its bi-annual Regional Hotel Meeting in June 2017 with General Managers, Directors of Sales/Marketing/Revenue and provided updates on the Tourism Marketing District (TMD). L.A. Tourism’s Executive Team, along with TMD Chairman Javier Cano, visited the five regions of L.A. and discussed sales activities and initiatives, provided updates on TMD lodging performance and presented a live demonstration of the newly created Discover L.A. mobile app.
L.A. Tourism CMO Don Skeoch presented a new regional marketing video to the hotels, highlighting the attributes of each region, along with their proximity to other desirable L.A. attractions. The initiative was positively received by all regions, in which attendees were asked to provide their feedback on what each video should highlight. Feedback included:
Downtown: Food culture, nightlife, entertainment, parks (Grand Park, Pershing Square), museums and street murals and distinct neighborhoods
The Westside: Culture, museums and luxury, along with its central location
The Valley: Nature and parks (Balboa Park, Griffith Park and canyons), outdoor activities (cycling and hiking), Topanga Mall, Ventura Blvd., Universal Studios Hollywood and Warner Brothers Studio Tour Hollywood
LAX/Beach Cities: Hermosa Pier, restaurant and shopping corridors by their destination names, a geographical map that shows the proximity to the beach and LAX
Hollywood: Hollywood hoteliers would prefer to have a meeting video over a regional consumer video, which would focus on the meeting options in the Hollywood region
Don asked for a few volunteers from each region to work alongside with for the creation of their respective regional videos. The next iteration will be presented at the upcoming Regional Meetings!
