As your Chair of the Tourism Marketing District (TMD) Board of Directors*, I want to let you know that the TMD Board will be meeting in October to consider recommendations from LATCB for strategic marketing and sales plans to be implemented January – December 2017. As we transition to our new calendar year schedule stipulated by the TMD Management District Plan, we want to be sure you are aware of the adjusted timing and the opportunity to provide thoughts or input into the planning cycle.
At our most recent TMD Regional meetings in June, many of you contributed comments that we will incorporate into next year’s plans. As you have heard me say many times, this is your Tourism Marketing District, and we welcome and encourage your ideas. LATCB executes the plans for the TMD, and bases their recommendations on respected industry data and commissioned third party research to ensure that TMD funds are focused on driving hotel demand to all regions within the City of Los Angeles with maximum return on investment.
Please feel free to contact me directly or reach out to Patti MacJennett, senior vice president of business affairs of LATCB, with your thoughts for next year’s programming.
*Note: The TMD Board of Directors is comprised of twelve members: Nine members represent lodging businesses paying the TMD from the major regions of the City of Los Angeles and three members represent non-lodging businesses who have an interest in tourism in Los Angeles.
